Hubbardton Forge and Simon Pearce—two, well-known Vermont makers—began a creative relationship in 2018, with the Griffin Pendant. “It’s amazing that two companies, only 60 miles apart, have taken this long to find one another for a collaboration” said David Kitts, Director of Design at Hubbardton Forge.
Simon Pearce worked with notable glassmakers across Europe, before he and his wife, Pia, opened their studio in Vermont over 35 years ago. Their handmade pieces come to life in the turbine-powered workshop from the rushing Ottauquechee River. Much like Hubbardton Forge, Simon Pearce believes "simplicity, quality and artisanship are tenets of a better way of life."
A NOTE ABOUT OUR TRANSLUCENT FINISHES
Variations in finish appearances are a normal and desired result of the process, rendering each piece an individual and unique work of art. Shown here in Dark Smoke (-07) are examples of the different textures and patterns seen through our translucent finishes.
In an age of mass-produced, machine-made products, many companies have abandoned the right way of doing things in favor of maximizing profits. We believe doing things the right way is the only way to do business. We make products where the craftsmanship and skill clearly shows. As our Design Director, David Kitts, notes, “We make heirlooms, not landfill.” Any piece leaving the Forge is touched by multiple hands throughout its creation. When you look at a Hubbardton Forge lighting fixture, you’re seeing the artistic achievements of a team dedicated to design. Our family of artisans combines traditional craft knowledge with modern technology and one-of-a-kind tools we’ve created to give you a piece of Vermont history that holds enduring value.
THE ART OF THE FORGE
Hubbardton Forge is one of the most respected brands in the lighting industry. Our award-winning team of designers takes inspiration from everywhere – the natural world, sculptures, architecture and their own innate sense of form and function. Whatever the seed of the idea is – once it takes form as a sketch, or shaped from paper, foam or some other choice material, our engineering and forge teams translate it into a metal maquette. This environment of collaboration and the ability to rise to a design challenge sets our people and our work apart from other luxury lighting manufacturers. We don’t take shortcuts. We choose the path that produces products that we’re proud to call Hubbardton Forge.
